Contract 2:

Project A - Pfluger Lane Relocation &
Project B - Raw Water Storage Reservoir

Contract No. 2 includes the construction of an earthen dam, spillway and outlet works and the relocation of Pfluger Lane around the south side of the reservoir.  The proposed dam will be approximately 2,930 feet long and will be composed of 300,000 cubic yards of fill material.  The dam will include a 200-ft wide reinforced concrete ogee spillway to pass flood flows through the reservoir.  The ogee spillway includes an innovative design of the downstream chute and stilling basin.  The chute and stilling basin were designed with a constricting chute to reduce the amount of reinforced concrete required for the spillway construction, significantly reducing the cost of the structure.  A physical model was constructed and tested at the Utah State Water Research Laboratory.  The dam will also include a reinforced concrete intake tower that will be utilized to convey water from the reservoir through a 48-inch conduit through the dam to the downstream pump station.  The pump station will deliver water from the reservoir to the water treatment plant.

Pfluger Lane will be relocated around the south side of the reservoir.  Approximately 1.2 miles of 2-lane roadway will be constructed along with 0.3 miles of a local road (Zreet Street) across the west end of the reservoir.  A temporary roadway to serve as local access to the residents along Pfluger Lane during the construction of the dam and reservoir is also included.

The proposed reservoir impacts existing utilities in the area.  Construction of the reservoir includes coordination of utility relocations including existing Oncor 138kv electric transmission lines, Oncor electric distribution lines, Southwestern Bell telephone lines, and Manville WSC water lines,   The relocation of these utilities will be performed during the construction phase of the reservoir and road relocation.

Contract No. 2 was awarded to Ranger Excavation, Inc. on January 13, 2004 for the amount of $5,201,185.  A notice to proceed was issued on February 4, 2004 and the schedule for completion is 380 days, or on or before February 19, 2005.
